Our Commitment to Privacy

Let’s Talk Not Hide is a community education and violence-prevention initiative delivered by Afghan Women’s Organization Refugee and Immigrant Services (AWO) and funded by the Government of Ontario.

Through culturally responsive education, community conversations and practical resources, the project helps newcomer, immigrant, refugee and racialized communities recognize warning signs of gender-based and intimate partner violence, respond safely and connect with appropriate support.

Respect, dignity, safety and confidentiality guide our work. This Privacy Policy explains how information received through the Let’s Talk Not Hide website is handled.

Information We May Collect

You may provide personal information when you email our team, request information, ask about a workshop, register for an activity or contact us about a partnership.

This information may include your name, email address, telephone number, organization, community, preferred language, accessibility requirements and information included in your message.

Our website, hosting provider or security services may also collect limited technical information, such as browser type, device type, IP address, pages visited and the date and time of a visit.

How We Use Information

We may use information to respond to questions, organize workshops and community activities, provide educational resources, communicate about partnerships, improve website accessibility and security, and prepare anonymous or combined program reports.

Whenever possible, reports provided to funders or partners use combined information that does not identify individual participants.

Personal information is shared only when reasonably necessary. It may be shared with authorized Afghan Women’s Organization staff, facilitators or service providers who require it to respond to a request or support an activity.

Information may also be disclosed with your consent, when required by law, to protect someone’s immediate safety, or to investigate fraud, misuse or a security concern.

Sensitive Information and Safety

Let’s Talk Not Hide provides community education and information. It is not an emergency, counselling, or crisis-response service.

Please do not send detailed information about violence, immigration status, medical conditions or other highly sensitive personal circumstances through the website or ordinary email.

If someone else may access your email account or device, avoid sharing sensitive details. If it is safe to receive a reply, tell us how we can contact you safely.

If you or another person is in immediate danger, call 911. For other urgent needs, find crisis support and shelter services.
